THE 5 BIGGEST MISTAKES BUSY PEOPLE MAKE.

WHO IS LIZ ANGEL

Creating and launching this website is part of my own journey to liberate my own spirit, vitality and love for life. When I set up Tiger by the Tail Coaching and became a certified life and business coach, I saw this as a fulfilling opportunity to spread the “good news” about coaching; to help others give their lives a big boost  similar to what I experienced working with my own coach. By sharing my own wisdom, words and experiences, others may find it easier to take the evolutionary walk that they are yearning for.

I was married for 17 years to a loving husband, had 2 beautiful girls and got to spend a fair amount of time with them, a successful career, solid financial picture, a nice home full of nice things, took great vacations and had close friends. For a while it looked like and felt like I “had it all”. I created the fairy tale for myself that I thought I wanted for as far back as I could remember. I was always very busy, my life was filled with trying to be close to perfect at being a mother, wife, daughter, friend, career woman and all of the other roles I played. I had spread myself thin with everything I had going on.  There were definitely bumps in the road, but nothing that wasn’t too hard to be in denial about and/or able to be smoothed over.

At some point in during the last few years, I felt very restless and increasingly unhappy. At first, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Eventually my feelings of unhappiness and feeling shut down were overwhelming. I felt like I was holding back a big part of me and that something was really missing. I didn’t know what “it” was.

In trying to solve “the problem”, the first place I went is that I wanted more – what I had wasn’t enough.  I just needed to work harder, make more money and have more things! Try harder to be a good mother, wife, friend etc. That would surely take care of it all. The thought of working harder left me feeling depressed and a little bit panicked.  I had already worked so hard and I was barely 40!  I didn’t know when I was going to get a chance to really enjoy what I had already created.

Maybe it was time for more psychotherapy. Oh no!  I had been in therapy and it was great.  I am sure I am here talking with you today due to the self awareness therapy opened up in me.  I was very aware of why I do what I do and how I do it! Therapy wasn’t where I needed to be.

At this point, I had a couple of choices. I could start my next big effort towards giving myself the bigger fairy tale of more, more and more. Or, I could choose to do something different than I had ever done. I spent quite a while worried about what family, friends and neighbors, coworkers would think about the choices I might make. I wondered if I really had it in me to do something different this time, to give myself the opportunity to end up in a totally different place than I had ever been.

After trying to project an image of having it all together for most of my life (except for the occasional short lived stretches of not looking so good) - that I was competent, achieving, strong, responsible, resourceful, good daughter, neighbor, good wife, good mother, responsible citizen, friend, good earner, and generally took care of things – the possibility of not being that person felt terrifying. Who would I be without the identity that I was born into and cultivated for most of my life?

At this point I really did something different! I hired my first coach to assist me in finding the answers to these huge questions and possibly end up doing something different!

Here’s how “doing something different” is manifesting in me (and the clients I coach)

  • I find more time for me, doing what lights me up just because it feels good
  • I am living more in my body; my body is happier, healthier and feels more alive and at ease
  • My relationships are deeper and more intimate
  • I feel more a part of the community I live in
  • I have found a place in a community of people who appreciate and value my unique gifts and talents as I do theirs
  • I care more about what matters to me rather than worrying about if I what I am doing pleases someone else
  • It is ok to play before I work
  • I welcome change
  • I give myself permission be authentic – what happens on inside matches
  • what I project on the outside
  • Experience a deep, wide connection with the Divine
  • Spending lots of quality time with my beautiful, lively and loving girls
  • Being tender and loving with myself - not matter what
  • Letting in help and assistance in when I need it
  • Trusting and acting from my own inner guidance
  • Life is not so conditional any more
  • Allow myself to experience my full range of emotions and self expression
  • Breathing more fully and feely
  • Spending more time living in the present
